Nail Can Hill Run 2020 Cancelled

Dear Competitors, Supporters and Friends of the Nail Can Hill Run,

It is with great disappointment that I wish to advise that the Vitasoy Nail Can Hill Run and the Flex Out Physiotherapy Half Can Run will unfortunately will not take place in 2020.

This decision has not been taken lightly, as the history of this event in our community is one of iconic status.

We have come to this decision following extensive consultation between our Event Committee, Sponsors and the other businesses and organisations who have been loyal, long-term supporters of this fabulous community fundraising event.

Our concern with running the event in the latter part of 2020 is that it is unknown what restrictions, or legislative compliances may still be under enforcement at that time. Further, with many other activities being rescheduled, along with the significant disruption created during the isolation period for everyone, it is likely there would be an adverse effect on participant numbers.

With these considerations in mind, it was decided by the Organising Committee that, rather than delivering an event which failed to meet our own high expectations of quality, we will set our sights on 2021.

I would like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank the amazing group of people who year in and year out, continue to support the Nail Can Hill Run. Whilst there are many, I would like to make special mention of our Naming Rights Sponsor Vitasoy, a local and loyal community business; Flex Out Physiotherapy, who lend their business name to the family friendly Half Can event and finally, the members, wives and partners of the Rotary Club of Albury West.

During a period of time which has been challenging, created negativity, and forced many of us to significantly change the structure of our lives, I would like to close this letter with some positivity.

The beneficiary of the proceeds from the 2020 Vitasoy Nail Can Hill Run and the Flex Out Physiotherapy Half Can was to be Albury & Border Rescue Squad. The request from them was to be able to obtain funding for the purchase of either a new rescue boat or an emergency portable light tower.

In what can only be viewed as an amazing act of generosity and community spirit, Vitasoy, Beyond Bank and a prominent local business identity, who wishes not to be recognised, have provided the funds required to purchase the much needed Emergency Light Tower for our hard-working Albury & Border Rescue Squad. We cannot thank those organisations and people enough for this extremely kind and selfless gesture, it is one for which we are profoundly grateful.

For those competitors who did register for the event, we will be contacting you to arrange a full refund of the fee paid for the 2020 event. As an alternative option, you are may care to approve the amount to be refunded as a donation in your name to our Nail Can Hill Run Beneficiary, Border Rescue Service and we will then redirect those funds for you.

On behalf of the Event Organising Committee, I wish to thank you for your loyalty and ongoing support of this wonderful community activity. Please stay safe, look after each other and we promise to make the 2021 Nail Can Hill Run one to remember.

Kind regards

Stephen Wood
Race Director.
